Grosvenor Gallery is returning to the India Art Fair once again, with the best of Indian modern and contemporary art. The fair runs from 30 January – 2 February 2020.
From stand B12, we will be exhibiting works by some of India’s most revered modernist painters, including; Maqbool Fida Husain, Sayed Haider Raza, Ram Kumar & Krishen Khanna.
One of the highlights of our display will be a 1961 oil on canvas by Francis Newton Souza. The work, titled Businessman, was originally sold by Victor Musgrave’s Gallery One, and has remained in private hands since the 1960s. Souza’s paintings of suited gentleman from the period are extremely rare, and it will be the first time this vivid example is publically exhibited.
We will also be exhibiting new paintings by two of the foremost contemporary artists from the region; Senaka Senanayake & Olivia Fraser.
This year we also have a special focus on the work of Jamini Roy, and will be exhibiting a number of paintings from private British collections in a special themed display.
