This publication has been produced to accompany our 2023 Frieze Masters exhibition focussing on Victor Musgrave's Gallery One and his work with a variety of artists from 1953-1963.  It contains several new photographs of Musgrave  at the gallery, which have never been published before.

Victor Musgrave's Gallery One was a beacon for avant garde artists in London in the 1950s and 60s.  He staged the first London shows of Yves Klein and Bridget Riley, and introduced to the public a host of artists who would become household names around the world.  He was also a champion of artists from South Asia, whose strongest connection was with the Indian artist Francis Newton Souza.  This publication tells the history of Gallery One and details Musgrave's involvement with a host of artists and characters from the time.
